Mayor David Cicilline announced Thursday that the Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Health and Rhode Island Hospital will offer free H1N1 Flu Shots to the public this weekend..

The clinic will be held Saturday, January 16th at Mount Pleasant High School on Mount Pleasant Avenue from 10am to 4pm.

There are only 2000 doses of the vaccine available for this clinic so the shots will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis. Shots will be provided free-of-charge for anyone 18 years of age or older. People seeking shots for individuals under 18 should contact their primary care physician.

“I want to make sure that as many of our residents as possible have access to H1N1 vaccinations, which remain the best defense against contracting the H1N1 virus,” said Mayor Cicilline. “Now that the federal government has made additional vaccines available to the Health Department, I am pleased that we are able to provide a free H1N1 flu shot clinic here in Providence.”

For those unable to attend Saturday’s flu clinic in Providence, the Health Department is coordinating other free public H1N1 vaccination clinics throughout Rhode Island.
