City to hold public vaccination clinic at school

NEW BEDFORD, MASS. (WPRI) - New Bedford mayor Scott Lang along with city health officials updated residents on the status of the H1N1 virus Wednesday.
Mayor Lang and the Director of the New Bedford Health Department, Marianne DeSouza announced they believe the city has enough vaccine to hold the first public vaccine clinic. As of right now, only children who are at high risk for the virus have been vaccinated.
As of Wednesday, officials have planned to hold the clinic at the Roosevelt Middle School next week. According to the New Bedford Public Schools website, the clinics will be held during the school day December 3rd and 4th. Students were sent home with their permission slips on Monday.
Portia S. Bonner, Ph.D., Superintendent of Schools says the department is in the process of finalizing clinic dates for Normandin, Keith and the High School. Those clinics will be held in December.
