FALL RIVER, MASS. (WPRI) - Fall River police have arrested five people on elder abuse charges.
Police say the family first called a medical rescue unit to the Lonsdale Street home on Saturday after the woman was incoherent.
Officials say the woman had been like that for several days before the family called for help.
The victim was taken to St. Anne's Hospital where doctors found bed sores that had become infected.
Police arrested the victim's daughter, son-in-law and three grandsons.
All five have been charged with permitting serious injury to an elder.
