Last call to redeem Pell bridge tokens

Drivers can get credit until 6 p.m. today

JAMESTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Motorists have until the end of the day to redeem unused tokens for the Claiborne Pell bridge.

The bridge connecting Jamestown and Newport now only accepts cash and E-ZPass.

Tokens can be redeemed for credit until 6 p.m. Thursday at an E-ZPass trailer adjacent to the bridge. Drivers can also redeem them at the Newport Chamber of Commerce Office.

Earlier this year, the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority raised the cash fare for the bridge for the first time in the span's 40-year history.
