Crack cocaine criminal sentenced

Rolando Rojas also faces murder charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI)-A federal court jury has convicted a career criminal on drug trafficking charges Thursday. 

Rolando Rojas, 33, was convicted of selling crack cocaine to an undercover federal agent on three occasions.

The evidence showed that Rojas sold an undercover agent nearly 28 grams of crack cocaine in January 2011, two ounces of crack cocaine in February 2011 and four ounces of crack on March 1.

Rojas was convicted on one count distribution of  crack cocaine and two counts of distribution of 28 grams or more.

He had previously been convicted on drug trafficking charges, firearms, felony assault and robbery charges.

Rojas is scheduled to be sentenced on October 9, 2012. He faces a minimum sentence of 10 years and up to life in federal prison.

Charges are also pending for an October 2010 murder.
