WHITINSVILLE, Mass. (WPRI) -- A man from Whitinsville, Mass., is charged with stabbing a Northbridge police officer with a double-bladed spear, after leading police on a car chase Friday morning.

Police say Adam Tillison, 27, had been driving his blue 2003 Jaguar 70 miles an hour in a 30-mph zone. Officers, including Thomas Dejordy of Northbridge, tried to pull Tillison over. Tillison drove to his home, jumped out of his car and ran inside.

When Dejordy walked up the stairs at Tillison's home, Tillison is alleged to have attacked him. The spear penetrated the officer's protective vest, and he suffered a stab wound to his stomach, below the ribs.

Despite the injury, Dejordy tackled Tillison and handcuffed him.

Tillison is expected to face a judge Friday on 14 different charges, from attempted murder to reckless driving -- and driving with a suspended license.
