PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A grand jury has indicted two West Warwick men in association with a deadly hit and run that stemmed from an argument over a dirt bike.

Justin Schoonmaker, 23, was indicted on one count of murder, and Christopher Schreffler, 21, was indicted on one count of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of second-degree murder. The indictments mean the grand jury found there's sufficient evidence to go forward with a trial. Both men will face a judge for a further arraignment on Feb. 1 at Kent County Superior Court.

Back on Feb. 25, 2012, Schoonmaker and Schreffler got into a dispute with neighbors off Hartman Court over Schreffler's riding his noisy dirt bike outside their home earlier in the day.

Schreffler is accused of assaulting Michael Nigro with a flashlight during the fight. Schoonmaker is accused of then using his Jeep to run over 56-year-old Michael Parrish twice. Parrish later died at Kent Hospital due to blunt force trauma.

Family members claimed Schoonmaker ran over Parrish -- backwards and then forwards -- in self-defense.

A third man, Marvin Abercrombie, was a passenger in the Jeep during the incident and at the time was charged with disorderly conduct. He was later held for violating an earlier probation. He was not included in the recent indictment.
