DPW worker hit by passing car's mirror

WARREN, R.I. (WPRI) -- An employee of Warren's Department of Public Works was rushed to the hospital Thursday morning, after a car's side view mirror clipped him while he was working in the road, knocking him for a loop and leaving him with lower back pain.
About 10:30 a.m. Thursday, a DPW crew was working in the northbound lane and breakdown lane of South Main Street, near Village Road, with orange traffic cones out in the street blocking off the area as the crew put up signs for an upcoming event.
A vehicle described as a silver four-door sedan driving northbound passed the employee, a 39-year-old Warren resident, and the side mirror hit him from behind.
Neither the suspect vehicle nor the driver have been identified; police are looking into it. If you have any information regarding the incident, you're asked to call Warren Police at (401) 245-1311 and talk to a detective.
The victim was conscious and alert.
