RI task force nabs 2 NY fugitives

Arrests made in Warwick, Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Police from the Fugitive Task Force arrested two people, both fugitives from the state of New York.

On Thursday around 6 a.m., members of the Fugitive Task Force arrested Warwick resident Jason Mitchner.

State police said Mitchner was wanted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms on charges of possession of a gun and ammunition and intent to distribute cocaine near a school.

Mitcher was turned over to federal court authorities.

Also on Thursday, at about 2 p.m., members of the Fugitive Task Force arrested Providence resident America Minaya.

Minaya was wanted by police in Colonie, New York on charges of sex trafficking.

She is being held at the ACI before a formal arraignment Friday afternoon.

The Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force is comprised of members of the Rhode Island State Police, Providence Police and the Providence Office of the United States Marshal’s Service.
