Suspects arrested in double shooting

Investigation led to three arrests

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) -- An investigation following a double shooting that happened late Monday morning has led to three arrests.

Officers were called to the area of Hedley Avenue near Illinois Street, and learned that a man and a woman were shot.

Police arrested Edward Morales, 30, and identified him as the shooter. In addition his brother Javier Morales, 27, and Jorge Orquendo, 24, were taken into custody.

Central Falls police also located and seized two loaded .357 handguns.

The trio will be arraigned in Providence on Tuesday on two counts of felony assault with a dangerous weapon, and carrying a firearm without a permit and conspiracy.

Edward Morales is also being charged with firing in a compact area and violating conditions of his bail.

The victims were transported to Rhode Island hospital and have since been treated and released.
