SOMERSET, MASS. (WPRI) -- Police are searching for a suspect after a robbery at the Rockland Trust in Somerset Friday.

Police tell Eyewitness News that a man entered the bank at 100 Slades Ferry Avenue at about 4 p.m. and showed a teller a note indicating that he had a gun.  The suspect fled the bank with cash and although Somerset police officers arrived quickly, the man escaped.

He's described as a white man, about 25-30 years old, about 5'6'' to 5'8'' in height and about 170 pounds.  The man was unshaven with a goatee and was wearing a Virginia Tech baseball hat, black framed eyeglasses, a long sleeve camouflage pulover or sweatshirt, and blue jeans.

Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspect; the man may have gotten into a waiting car that was stopped on Route 6 nearby.
