WARWICK, R.I. (AP) -- Police in Rhode Island have assisted homicide detectives from New York in arresting a fugitive found staying at a Warwick hotel.

Warwick Police said Thursday they were contacted by investigators from Nassau County, N.Y. with a tip that a vehicle belonging to a homicide suspect was parked at the hotel. The local police provided surveillance at the hotel until the investigators from New York could arrive.

31-year-old William Flowers of Rosendale, N.Y. was arrested Wednesday night at the hotel. Warwick Police Maj. Raymond Gallucci says Flowers has been charged with homicide by authorities in New York and will eventually be extradited back to that state.

It was unclear Thursday if Flowers has an attorney.
