PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Millions of dollars worth of heroin won't be seeing Rhode Island streets after police said they netted the biggest bust in state history.
U.S. Attorney Peter F. Neronha, flanked by Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, Public Safety Commissioner Steven M. Pare and Police Chief Col. Hugh T. Clements, Jr., announced the seizure during a news conference Friday morning at the Providence Public Safety Complex.
Police said they seized 19 kilograms of heroin, worth $4.5 million during the bust.
Jorge D. Estrada, 21, of Providence and Angel Feliz, 47, of Dorchester, Mass. were arrested and face federal drug charges.
