PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A man was hospitalized early Monday morning after being attacked.
Police were called to Cranston Street near Linwood Avenue around 2:30 a.m. The call initially came in as a stabbing. However, Commander Thomas Oates said the victim, Tomas Chingo, 44, was hit with a baseball bat.
Chingo told police he was riding his bicycle when four males exited an SUV and demanded money.
When Chingo told the men he had no money, he said they hit him with the bat, Oates said.
Emergency crews took Chingo to Rhode Island Hospital where, according to Oates, he was being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
No word if police have made any arrests in the attack.
