PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A date has been set for the former mayor of Central Falls to plead guilty to a corruption charge for taking gifts from a political supporter who received a lucrative contract to board up houses in the city.
The U.S. Attorney's office says Charles Moreau is scheduled to change his plea to guilty in a hearing set for Nov. 7.
Michael Bouthillette, who has acknowledged in court papers to paying for part of a furnace and doing repair work on Moreau's home, is also scheduled to plead guilty the same day.
Moreau stepped down on Sept. 19, the same day he agreed to plead guilty to a federal charge of accepting gifts.
