BARRINGTON, R.I. (WPRI) – A Barrington Police Sergeant has been suspended without pay.
Sgt. Joseph Andreozzi was suspended from the force effective November 16.
Andreozzi was charged with Obstruction of Judicial System (a felony) and Cyberstalking (a misdemeanor) on November 15.
Rhode Island State Police tell Eyewitness News that the charges are amended charges of a previous charge.
Eyewitness News first reported when State Police arrested Sgt. Andreozzi, 45, in August on a charge of Domestic Disorderly Conduct for engaging in threats against his ex-wife.
Andreozzi previously pleaded not guilty to that charge in court.
Barrington Police Chief John LaCross tells Eyewitness News that Andreozzi will remain suspended without pay pending the outcome of the felony charge.
As a result of the suspension, Sgt. Andreozzi has to turn in his badge and firearm.
