TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) – Taunton Police are investigating a very unusual theft.
According to a report from the Taunton Gazette, A Rehoboth man claimed that two men stole thousands of dollars worth of rare coins.
The 58-year-old man says that the coins were taken from his car while he was sleeping at a friend’s house in Taunton after attending a coin show in Auburn.
A neighbor reported seeing two men breaking into the car.
The victim says that they stole between $20,000 and $40,000 worth of rare coins. The man believes that the thieves followed him from the coin show to the Holly Road home in Taunton.
Police are investigating the theft.
