NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) -- Police are looking for a suspect who broke into Portobello Jewelers on Goddard Row in Newport early Thursday morning and stole a lot of high-price goods.
On surveillance video, the suspect's vehicle, a small silver 4-door sedan, was seen parking near 161 Thames St. The person, who appears to be a man, gets out of the car and throws a cement block through the door of the jewelry store's door.
The suspect smashed glass in two jewelry cases, and stole a large amount of ladies' gold necklaces, gold bracelets, gold & amythest stud earrings, and other jewelry.
The suspect wore a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, and was seen carrying a backpack.
If you know who the person is or where he might be, please call Newport Police.
