NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) -- A former real estate attorney is facing charges of embezzlement.
State police said they arrested Patrick Allienello, 48, Friday morning following an investigation.
According to state police, Allienello is accused of embezzling over $600,000 from clients. Investigators said he took real estate closing funds which were meant to pay off mortgages.
The Rhode Island Supreme Court suspended Allienello's license to practice law in January 2010.
Allienello was arraigned at the state police barracks Friday, and released on $50,000 personal recognizance. He was ordered to surrender his passport.
