EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – The man accused of killing his girlfriend Christmas Day in 2010 will remain held behind bars without bail.
Raymond Grundy was arraigned in Providence District Court Wednesday morning after an indictment was handed down by a statewide grand jury.
A judge entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf.
Grundy is charged with first degree murder and criminal solicitation to commit murder for the December 25, 2010 murder of his estranged girlfriend Staria Silva.
Grundy allegedly solicited another person to murder Silva between September 1, 2010 and December 25, 2010.
Silva’s mother found her daughter lying dead inside her East Providence apartment on Christmas Day, while Staria’s two nine-month old baby girls lay crying in their cribs.
Silva sustained stab wounds to her neck and arms and also showed signs of asphyxia.
Grundy is currently six years in prison as a probation violator.
He also has an unrelated charge of second degree robbery charge pending.
A hearing will be held next week to determine who Grundy’s attorney will be.
