Woman accused of stealing almost $200k
Johnston resident charged with larceny and fraud

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WPRI) -- A former employee of the Metro Motor Group is charged with stealing $197,518.93 from the company's president.
Rhode Island State Police informed Eyewitness News, 23-year-old Dana Collins of Johnston was arrested on Thursday following an investigation by the Financial Crimes Unit.
She is charged with larceny over $1,500, uttering and publishing, and access to a computer for fraudulent purposes.
According to State Police, Collins committed the crimes while working as a personal assistant to the company president.
During that time she had access to both his personal and real estate bank accounts.
An audit of the accounts revealed Collins had been making unauthorized payments on her personal bills, as well as issuing checks to herself from her employer's accounts.
The thefts dated back to 2009.
Collins was released on $10 thousand personal recognizance.
