FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (WPRI) – Massachusetts State Police continued their efforts to crack down on impaired, distracted and aggressive driving on Routes 24 and 195 in Southeastern Massachusetts over the holiday weekend.
Extra patrols were deployed on Friday and Saturday netting 13 drunk driving arrests.
Among those charged with OUI, was a man who was seriously injured when he crashed after driving the wrong way on the Braga Bridge on Friday.
Troopers made an additional 8 arrests for crimes other than OUI and issued 9 criminal summonses.
A total of 288 citations for motor vehicle violations were issued on both nights, including drivers clocked at speeds in excess of 90, 110 and 120 mph.
In addition, troopers conducted sobriety checkpoints across Massachusetts, netting 21 OUI arrests and 137 citations for motor vehicle violation.
Two more sobriety checkpoints are planned for next weekend.
