FALL RIVER, MASS. (WPRI) - Jury selection is underway in the murder trial of a Taunton man accused in highway shooting in May 2009.
Prosecutors say 27-year old Jose Fernandes was one of three men in a car traveling south on Route 24 in Freetown when shots were fired at another moving vehicle.
29-year old Troy Pina, originally of East Providence, was shot and killed.
The Herald News reports, the shooting may have been in retaliation to a shooting outside a Taunton bar in April 2009.
Fernandes has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The two other men in the car with him are also charged with murder.
