FREETOWN, Mass. (WPRI) - A good gardener waters his plants to reap their benefits. One gardener in Freetown was caught cultivating marijuana -- a bunch of it -- in his backyard.

A police officer was working a road detail Monday morning when he saw a man, 53-year-old James D. Vetter, driving toward his home on Kenneth Petty Drive, according to Freetown Police. Vetter had an arrest warrant outstanding against him.

Another officer went over to the house, and lo and behold Vetter was in the backyard using a garden hose to water marijuana plants located inside a chain-linked fence. Some of the plants were six feet in height. All of them were seized, 61 plants in total.

Vetter was arrested, and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and will be arraigned in Fall River District Court.
