PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A superior court judge has refused to throw out criminal charges against the former head of Beacon Mutual.

According to The Providence Journal , Joseph Solomon is accused of stealing more than $8,000 from the Warwick-based workers' compensation insurer back in 2003.

Investigators claim he charged the company for personal expenses, including diamond jewelry and installation of a home entertainment system.

The judge also rejected arguments that prosecutors discriminated against Solomon.
