FALL RIVER, Mass (WPRI) – A mother and son were arrested on drug charges Wednesday night.

Police arrested both Jordan Raposa, 22, and his mother, Maria Raposa, 51, of Columbia street in Fall River.

Police say that they were led to the Columbia street house because of numerous complaints of a high level of activity.

Undercover detectives identified their targets and then obtained search warrants for the Raposa household.

“During their pre-search warrant surveillance, they saw Mr. Raposa leaving the address in a vehicle. They followed him through several city streets and stopped him on Stafford Road,” said Detective J.D Costa.

Police said an officer searched Mr. Raposa and found that he was carrying twelve bags of heroin. He was then arrested on the scene.

At the same time, detectives searched the Columbia street home and took Mrs. Raposa into custody. Police say that she was charged with illegal possession of a prescription drug.

Both the mother and son were held overnight in jail and released on personal recognizance. They are due back in court on October 5th.
