DARTMOUTH, MA (WPRI) - Monday, Dartmouth Police received a tip that a student made a violent threat towards the student body at Dartmouth High School.

Police were advised that 17 year old Sean DeAlmeida of New Bedford sent a threatening instant message via the computer to a friend of his ex-girlfriend.

The message allegedly said he was going to go to Dartmouth High School and shoot several people and then commit suicide.

Police questioned the person who gave them the tip, prompting them to take necessary security measures at the school.

DeAlmeida was then questioned by Dartmouth Police Detectives about the allegation made against him.

DeAlmeida admitted to Detectives that he was upset over a recent break up and did in fact write and send an instant message to his ex-girlfriend's friend.

DeAlmeida was charged with making threats causing evacuation or disruption of a school.
