CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (AP) — A collections clerk in the Central Falls finance office has been charged with embezzlement.
Rhode Island State Police say Joyce Tager of Smithfield was arrested Tuesday and charged with one count of embezzlement. Authorities say she was taken to the Lincoln barracks, arraigned before a justice of the peace and released on $5,000 personal recognizance.
Tager is accused of stealing at least $13,000 in proceeds from the municipal court. State Police Chief Col. Steven O'Donnell says authorities are continuing an investigation to determine how much money she allegedly embezzled.
A message was left at a telephone listing for Tager. It was not immediately clear whether she has an attorney.
