CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) - Two men at a Central Falls apartment are now behind bars on charges related to manufacturing drugs -- crack cocaine.
After getting a report of a disturbance early Sunday morning, Central Falls police officers went to a third floor apartment on Broad Street. A knock on the door was answered, and officers could clearly see inside a scale and "a white powder-like residue, which officers believed to be either cocaine or filler commonly used to dilute cocaine," Maj. James Mendonca said in a news release Monday.
"Based on the officer's (sic) findings, consent to search was requested and agreed upon," the release continued. The search turned up a laundry list of drug-related material: powder and "crack" cocaine, marijuana, and prescription drugs, as well as packaging material. They also found, and seized, nearly $3,500 in cash.
The two residents charged are Carlos Montoya, 23, and Glenn Larocque, 21. A bail commissioner ordered them held until Monday till they could face a District Court judge.
Monday morning, they faced charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Manufacturing with Intent to Deliver Cocaine and Marijuana, and Controlled Substance Conspiracy.
Bail was set for Montoya at $30,000. However, he'd been on parole for a previous criminal charge, and must now serve four months at the ACI for violating parole, Mendonca said.
Larocque is being held until a bail hearing on May 7.
