CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) - Hundreds of parents and students gathered at Cranston West High School Wednesday night in opposition to a plan to merge sports programs at Cranston East and West High Schools.
Cranston's school committee must cut $130,000 from the its budget.
The superintendent wants to cut that money from the athletic department.
The athletic director proposed merging six programs at the two schools and cutting out four all together to keep sports alive in Cranston.
But students and parents said they want the school committee to find something else to cut.
