PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A troubled Providence nightclub is expected to learn its fate Friday afternoon, when Club Elements goes back before the Providence Board of Licenses for an emergency hearing.
Elements, and an adjacent club, Level II, were the scene of a New Year's morning brawl at Richmond and Friendship Streets that required 60 Providence police officers to bring under control.
The board already voted to allow Level II to reopen this weekend as long as security is increased.
Level II has gone before the licensing board to defend their business before -- back in April, Providence Police asked for the club to be closed, pointing to 22 separate incidents since November 2007; among them, the stabbing of a bouncer that had happened a few weeks prior and the stabbing death of a Connecticut man in December 2008.
