EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Eyewitness News Analyst Lt. General Reginald Centracchio sat down with Mike Montecalvo for a one-on-one interview.
This week, the general focused on New Al Qaida threat that attacks could be coming in the next 3-6 months. Not just rail or air, but telecommunications and other computer networks.
He also said militant groups in Pakistan are coordinating their attacks with Al Qaida, which has access to nuclear weapons. The general said attacks could happen on significant days like July 4th. He thinks that deploying new CIA agents throughout the country is a good idea.
Centracchio also supports lifting 'Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,' and thinks officials need to make sure moral is not jeopardized. As of right now, RI National Guard is not in line for cuts from the Gov’s budget. But, the general said, there’s always the possibility that some buildings could be closed.
Lastly, Centracchio said, the General Assembly needs to lift mandates to cities in towns to help them deal with budget deficit.
