(WPRI) - Attention Macy's shoppers: The store may have double-billed you for some Christmas shopping.

Macy's says a software glitch caused store computers to double bill customers who used their debit cards during a two-hour time span on December 20th, the Saturday before Christmas.

The store says the problem was limited to purchases made between 1:00 PM and 2:45 PM.

Macy's says you should check your bank statement if you think you were shopping at one of their stores during that time.

If you see a problem:

  • Fax the bank statement to Macy's at 513-573-2433.
  • Be sure to black out your account number on the statement before sending it.
  • Write "third party credit" on the statement.

You'll still get credit from Macy's, even with the account number blacked out.

Macy's is asking that you do not go to the store to report the problem.
