BRISTOL, R.I. (WPRI) - Some East Bay gyms hosted an event this weekend to help fight cancer.

"Spin for Hope" benefits the American Cancer Society while promoting fitness for the participants.

Total Fitness in Bristol was one of several local health clubs and gyms that hosted teams of indoor cyclists.

Each cyclist was encouraged to raise $100 per hour of spinning.

The East Bay branches of Total Fitness raised $11,000 on Sunday.

The hope was to raise $350 thousand statewide.
