DARTMOUTH, Mass., (WPRI) - Seven Massachusetts communities will soon be receiving some cash for helping to crackdown on drugs and crime.
Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson is donating a total of $70,000 dollars, divided up to seven SouthCoast Anti-Crime Task Force or SCAT communities.
The communities awarded the money, have each helped the Sheriff's office investigate drug cases and illegal activities.
Hodgson said the money that is being donated, is drug forfeiture money, seized from arrests in the communities.
Communities each receiving $10,000:
The donated money will be used to continue to combat drugs and crime including training, equipment, and undercover investigations.
Over the years, SCAT has arrested hundreds of suspects and seized over $1 million dollars in assests.
