PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Basement flooding at Bishop McVinney Elementary School in Providence forced the dismissal of students on Friday morning.

According to the Catholic Schools Office students were released at 9:30 a.m. Officials say they hope to have the school open on Monday, but a more formal announcement will be made within the next few days.

There is no word on the extent of the flooding damage.
