BARRINGTON, R.I. (WPRI) - Barrington voters approve a ballot question that would allow retail liquor stores to open in town.
The measure, which would allow the Town Council to issue Class A liquor licenses, passed by a margin of 57.8% to 42.2%.
The final count was 4,344 votes in favor, 3,170 against.
Before Tuesday's vote only Class B liquor licenses were available in Barrington. Class B licenses allow restaurants and private clubs to serve alcohol to patrons.
