PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - One of the Rhode Island police officers competing on the current season of "The Amazing Race" has been placed on desk duty after being linked to a major cop-operated cocaine ring in Providence, according to reports on TMZ.com.

According to the Rhode Island State Police, Louie Stravato's name came up in during the four-month drug investigation dubbed "Operation Deception."

Three officers were arrested in the sting operation and accused of protecting a cocaine distribution ring and setting up drug deals. Although Stravato was not among those arrested, he was one of four officers assigned to the desk work following the investigation, Captain David S. Neill said. Neill would not comment on the nature of Stravato's involvement in the case.

Stravato and his friend, Newport Police Detective Michael Naylor, are part of the current season of the CBS reality show. The duo came in first place during this week's leg of the race.

Both Stravato and Naylor said they had no comment when contacted by Eyewitness News.
