Holiday travel projected to increase

AAA estimates 38.4 million will travel 50+ miles

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - AAA of Southern New England has projected an increase in holiday travel this Thanksgiving.

AAA says an estimated 38.4 million people are expected to travel 50 miles or more over the holiday weekend. Experts say they expect an 8.8 percent increase from 2008 in travel from New England states.

The Rhode Island Airport Corporation is also anticipating an increase in passenagers travelling in and out of T.F. Green Airport during the holiday. Air carriers have reported an increase in passenager levels from Nov. 24 - Nov. 29th.
