PROVIDENCE (WPRI) - Local lawmakers take another step forward to close a legal loophole that allows convicted sex offenders to leave the ACI without being classified.
A hearing was held at the State House Tuesday night, regarding a new bill that would require sex offenders to be classified before they're released from prison.
Under current law, the neighborhoods registered sex offenders move into, can't immediately be notified.
