PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A hearing to determine whether a teenager charged in the boating death of his friend should be tried as an adult has ended for a second straight day without a decision.
Ryan Greenberg is charged with second-degree murder in the July 2007 death of Patrick Murphy on the Barrington River. He was 17 at the time, and prosecutors are trying to convince a judge that Greenberg should be tried as an adult.
Murphy was kneeboarding from a boat allegedly steered by Greenberg. In court Wednesday, another teen who was on board the board testified that Greenberg pushed the throttle toward Murphy and did not steer away.
Greenberg's attorneys noted that he initally told police a different story. The hearing continues Thursday.
