EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI)-- Thinking of upgrading your TV for the big football game? Instead of splurging on a brand new model, now may be the time to play around with the settings of your existing model.

Often consumers don't experiment with a television's settings that can improve the picture quality in a given environment, Consumer Reports says.

Consumer Reports lists the best ways to improve the picture of a television:

  • Review the menu of pre-set picture modes
  • Set black and white settings, then color and tint
  • Adjust sharpness

If you have a consumer problem you need help solving, contact Call 12 For Action , Monday through Thursday from 11am-1pm at (401) 228-1850.
