Online shoppers could face sales tax

A new bill adds 5-10% sales tax for online goods

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Congress could pass a bill that would allow states to place a sales tax between 5-10%  on items purchased online.

53% of American did their shopping online last year, spending nearly $200 billion.

A bipartisan bill would allow states to decided whether to tax online sales.

If the bill becomes a law, and estimated $23 billion would flow into state coffers.
