Dental mix-up almost cost elderly man

R.I.  (WPRI)-- A mix up with the dentist's office almost cost an 87 year-old man his good credit.

A severe tooth infection sent Louis Lefort to a local dentist's office in September. He was told he would need a full set of dentures, costing $4800.

Lefort filled out paperwork for loan with GE Capital CareCredit . Later, his son convinced him not to take out a loan, and instead, pay the dentists in full.

Lefort paid the bill in full and has a receipt as proof, but a month after the dental procedure Lefort still received a bill from GE Capital CareCredit.

"They said they they had already sent the money to the dentist and he had entered into an agreement with them and he was to pay them," Lou Lefort, Louis' son said.

The dentist even wrote a personal note on Lefort's behalf, saying he paid the bill in full and that the dentist had returned the credit to CareCredit.

Week after week, Lefort continued to receive bills saying he owed money to Capital Care. Eventually, his account went into collections.

Eventually, Lefort contacted Call 12 For Action for help. Call 12 For Action called GE Care Credit and within a matter of hours, Lefort received a call with an apology and a promise that he owes them nothing.
