(WPRI) - Even though the gift-giving season has come to a close, it is time to head back to the store to return those unwanted presents.
However, a growing trend shows that stores are no longer allowing customers to return items without a receipt. In addition, not all stores will accept items purchased online.
With gift cards becoming an increasingly popular alternative to actual gifts, note that most are non-refundable. Also, beware of restocking fees that keep a percentage of the item you wish to return.
Retailers are supposed to prominently display their return policy in-store, but what about those that receive items as a gift? With an array of new apps designed to help make the return process painless, don't worry about getting stuck with an unwanted item.
As always, make sure you research the store where your item came from before heading out.
