EAST PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI) - Thousands of Patriots fans were on the edge of their seats, until the moment their team clinched the AFC Championship.
From computer clicks to phones ringing.
Fans were trying to book flights, travel packages, and score a place to stay.
"If you're going to go to the game, book with agents you already know and trust," says Tammy Miller of Consumer Protection at the Rhode Island Attorney Generals Office.
But a warning tonight from the Rhode Island Attorney Generals Office, scammers are already cashing in on fake travel packages and counterfeit tickets.
"Read the fine print over everything and make sure you get copies of everything once you agree to that package."
"Do not give any upfront fees, wire money, again it's back to common sense," Miller says.
Beware of fake Super Bowl rentals.
Scammers are posting fictitious ads on reputable websites, hoping to attract people with low rents to give up their personal information or wire money.
Also, beware of counterfeit Super Bowl tickets.
Only buy from a reputable dealer or website.
To check out whether they're legit, check with the Better Business Bureau.
