Keep Kids' Sharp During Vacation

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- The school year is winding down, and the lazy days of summer are about to take over. To keep your kids' brains growing over vacation, you may want to give them a brainy toy.

Crayon Physics is one video game, which requires certain science skills to be mastered as your child moves up in levels. Younger kids can take part too with the Leap Pad and its new e-books.

"Their progress is actually assessed as they go through different activities and different games and the books will adjust to their level," Toy Insider Mom Laurie Schact said.

If you're concerned about too much computer time, parents have the option to use built in controls to limit how long a child can use the device during a day.

These toys cary in price from a couple of dollars up to a couple hundred dollars.
