PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Thousands of Bally’s members nationwide have been changed over to a new health club.
Bally’s gyms nationwide were transformed to Work Out World overnight. All of the signage, staff uniforms and décor now represent the new owners.
For many members, the change is something they did not want to be a part of, and decided to leave the health club and sign memberships elsewhere.
However, for some people, the change came at a high price.
James Bartone, an Eyewitness News employee, received a bill that was over $250 because his membership had rolled over from his Bally’s membership, and canceling without a 30-day notice was an additional charge of a year membership to Work Out World.
Bartone contacted Call 12 For Action, asking them to help solve this billing problem. Call 12 For Action then contacted ABC Financial, the 3rd party biller hired by Work Out World, and they admitted they had numerous calls regarding the same billing issues.
Call 12 For Action also spoke to the co-founder of Work Out World, who says this has affected roughly 6,000 members, and that 99.75 percent of the members didn’t have this bill sent to them and that they are currently fixing the billing problem.
ABC Financial sent James an email confirming that he owes nothing and at no time was money ever withdrawn from his or any member accounts.
