PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Rhode Island Housing will be receiving $1.1 million in federal funding to help end homelessness in the Ocean State.
Senator Jack Reed announced on Friday that two of the homeless programs at RI Housing ; the Burnside Avenue Permanent Supportive Housing and Shelter Plus Care, would be awarded the money.
“This federal funding is a smart investment in reducing homelessness in Rhode Island,” said Reed. “We are committed to preventing and ending homelessness throughout the state, and I am pleased to help put the resources behind that commitment,” said Reed.
The grants will help fund permanent and transitional homes, as well as job training, health care, mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment and child care.
