NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) - An iconic, waterfront restaurant in Newport will soon be back in business.
The Pier was open for more than five decades, before closing down in 2008.
But now restauranteurs Peter and Harry Kyriakides have acquired the business, and plan to re-open next week.
"We're trying to bring it back to the old neighborhood-style restaurant it used to be," says general manager Charlie Holder.
He tells us the menu will feature some of the old favorites, as well as some newer items.
Executive chef Kevin Gaudreau says The Pier will also try to adapt to these tough economic times.
"We want people to be able to come out and have a good time, but not have their pocket books emptied."
The Pier re-opens to the public on Tuesday, February 9th.
